Heffner’s “The Kite” was published in the 37th Volume of the Emrys Journal. Emrys prints new Volumes of this journal annually, as well as runs their own recognized press, holds contests and workshops, and awards writing prizes. The Journals are only available in print.

Free from genre categorization and limitations, Madcap strives to be a platform for all. The semiannual online journal embraces great writing whether its impulsive, reckless, or restrained. Side by side with other poets, writers, and visual artists, two of Heffner’s more recent works, “O” and “Parenting Tips from the CDC”, can be found in Issue 11 of the Review.

Describing themselves as a “literary journal for mysteries and marginalized voices,” the University of Central Arkansas’s Arkana shares contemporary work from the world at large. The editors, who are involved with the Arkansas Writers’ MFA program, decided Heffner’s work deserved a greater platform, which led to the inclusion of “Sunflower” in their 3rd issue.

Also known as BOP, The Bitter Oleander Press published “Lunch”, by Heffner in the Fall of 2016. BOP primarily serves as a publication of international, visually driven poetry. Their biannual journal and the books in which they publish are in English, but are often translated from a wide variety of languages as a way for international writers to expose their work and culture to the English world. “Lunch” can be found as No. 2 in Volume 22, which is not accessible online.

The University of Canberra’s Vice-Chancellor’s International Poetry Prize is a highly-respected, annual competition of culturally significant and diverse contemporary poetry. Administered by the International Poetry Studies Institute (IPSI), part of the Centre for Creative and Cultural Research in the University’s Faculty of Arts and Design, Heffner’s “Words for Food” celebrated a Long List Award and was published in the 2016 anthology titled tremble.

Jenny is the creative product of the Student Literary Arts Association of Youngstown State University in Ohio. The semi-annual online publication strives to exhibit the ceaseless productions of wordsmiths and visual artists around the country. Heffner’s “Rapunzel” was chosen for Issue 009 of Jenny- alongside other works of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction.

Butler University published Heffner’s “V” in Volume 5, Issue 6 of their literary journal Booth. Booth shares contemporary writing on their website weekly, culminating in a semi-annual paperback publication.

This digital publication collects established and emerging voices- whether poetry, prose, or the occasional interview- for a monthly, “digestible” issue. Bodega, which reached 100 issues in 2020, included Heffner’s “Ellen” & “What Keeps the Owl up at Night” in their fourth issue.

The North American Review awarded “Elevator Conversation” 2nd place for the James Hearst Award in 2008. Published by the University of Northern Iowa, this journal hosts an annual prestigeous poetry competition and publishes winning submissions as a part of their National Poetry Month issue. Heffner’s work was included in Volume 293, as article Number 2.

Supported by the University of Pittsburg’s Honors College, Three Rivers Review is a literary magazine publishing the best undergraduate writing of the entire Pittsburg community. Two of Heffner’s poems, “Korea” and “South of the North” were chosen to represent the most interesting creative writing that the city had to offer during her time as an undergraduate at the University. The poems are found in Volume XI, Issue 2 of the magazine, which exists also in hard copy at the University’s Cathedral of Learning.
